I re-joined eBay because I was interested in buying something. For what it’s worth, I totally failed to get a decent price on what I wanted. Would have been cheaper to go through Amazon. Anyhoo, they automagically signed me up for a bunch of their newsletters, so now I’m bombarded with them. So I read the bottom of their latest email, and it reads:
“Please note that it may take up to 10 days to process your request.”

Seriously? Why is it that I can automagically sign up for newsletters (in fact, they never asked, they just did it on registering with the site), but it will take 10 days to remove me from them? I’m tossing them in my spam folder. If they were to ever have me as a customer, they’ve definitely lost me now.

I’ve been a fan of Katya’s (admittedly, a silent one) for almost a year now. She hit the nail on the head with a review of the new and improved Global Giving website. Not to sound cliche, but they really did make it about ME for all the reasons she outlined in her post. One other feature I love about the homepage is that it takes pains to give two prominent links to how it works, again, making me feel completely welcome but not beating me over the head with it in case I’m ready to find out for myself. Great job, Katya and Global Giving!
